Embracing the Beauty and Value of Occupational Therapy: Our Mission

For 25 years, I have dedicated my life to occupational therapy, as a second-generation occupational therapist. A profession that is as rewarding as it is misunderstood. I have witnessed first-hand the transformative power of our work in many settings and with diverse people. Yet, despite its profound impact, many remain unaware of the true value and beauty of occupational therapy. This frustration fuels my passion to create a range of merchandise that not only explains what occupational therapy is but also promotes the underpinning guiding occupational science and theory. 'Rise and Roar' represents the amazing beauty of our icon, the phoenix rising from the ashes reminding us to rise to support each other and the pride of the lion we ought to feel about all we are, and all we do.

Me: Alice Hortop

I launched this enterprise. I live on the Welsh coast in Barry, of 'Gavin and Stacey' fame. When I'm not immersed in occupational therapy, I'm immersed in the sea. I frolic and laugh in the waves with a group of wonderful friends most days. My nickname is the Viking mermaid as I tolerate the cold sea for surprisingly extended periods, I think it's linked to being neurospicy. I have 3 dogs (HugglePuggleMcfugglewuggle aka Huggie Bear, Lady Tink, and Super Teddy) and a violent cat (Hector Newton). My stepson is now a delightful adult and the culprit in naming Huggie Bear!  I love OT, the sea, camaraderie, sushi, silent discos and unusual words such as rastrophiliopustrocity!

Sustainability:

My passion for the environment is reflected here. I chose a print on demand option so there are no wasted products, chose the printer with printers all over the world to reduce delivery carbon footprints, and chose product options that minimise environmental impact, are repeat use and resist breaking (enamel mug, reuse tote bag, drinking bottle etc). Please recycle, upcycle, or donate items if you no longer want them.
